Pregnancy Plus Medical (PPM) – a pregnancy resource center located in Tampa – has been providing abstinence education since 2000. Emma Boe, iWait. Program Manager and Director of Life Services for Catholic Charities, began providing prevention services under its original program name, the POWER Team – Peers Offer Witness to Encourage Respect – after seeing the needs of the teens in her own community.
Since 2000, PPM has served hundreds of teens in the form of 8th Grader Weekend Retreats; Parish presentations and community presentations; and club meetings and activities. It has also served numerous parents, encouraging them to take an active role in educating their youth on the risks of engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage and the freedoms that can be enjoyed by remaining abstinent until marriage.
Now an active partner of the iWait. and iParent. Programs, PPM is proud to be part of such an extended grant opportunity with the PCCPC and looks forward to serving the needs of teens in the Tampa Bay area.
